We are delighted to announce the establishment of two new Community-Based Support
Centres in Lenkopei (Catholic Diocese of Ngong) and Kalembwani (Catholic Diocese of Wote).
These centres mark an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to make rehabilitation and
support services accessible, sustainable, and community-driven. Unlike traditional therapy clinics, the
CBR centres are run by parents and community members who share resources, equipment, and
experiences to support children with disabilities within their own environment.
Therapists visit the centres regularly to train and mentor parents, demonstrating practical skills and
techniques that can be used at home. This model ensures that knowledge and support remain within
the community, empowering families to become active participants in their children’s growth and
development.
Each centre provides a safe and inclusive space where parents can connect, learn, and access assistive
equipment, while children engage in activities that promote independence, play, and participation.
Through collaboration with the Diocese of Ngong and Diocese of Wote, we continue to strengthen local
capacity, promote inclusion, and reduce the barriers families face in accessing therapy services.
Together, we are building communities where every child, regardless of ability, can thrive, learn, and
belong.
