As part of the project on Inclusive Education funded by Kortrijk and West-Vlaanderen, SEP is building a toilet at Kamangu Primary School. The learners had to walk a long distance to the toilets crossing an uneven playground and climbing steep ramps. Learners with challenges with mobility have been struggling, and their teachers had to accompany them to ensure they reached the toilet safely. Falls have happened on the way. SEP has started cooperation with the school in 2024 and part of the programme is making adaptations to the school environment. In Kamangu the choice was easily made… the learners need a toilet close to their class room! This will make access easy, will take far less time, and will enhance independency. The building is getting shape during the holidays. We can’t wait to see the faces of the learners when they come back and find their own toilet next to their class room!
